THE Agong will be briefed on the year-end flood situation as speculation mounts that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob will meet the king later this evening to discuss the dissolution of parliament.

Currently Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is being briefed by Environment and Water Ministry chief secretary Zaini Ujang and Meteorological Department director-general Muhammad Helmi Abdullah at the National Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre.

According to reports, the request for the brief was made by the palace.

The king arrived at 10.30am and was received by Environment and Water Minister Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali.

Umno leaders have been pushing Ismail to dissolve parliament to make way for the general election this year.

It is said that Ismail will meet the king this evening at 4pm ahead of tomorrow’s cabinet meeting – the last before the tabling of Budget 2023 in the afternoon.

Opposition parties have however rejected Umno’s move to call for snap polls, citing dangers during the monsoon season. – October 6, 2022.
